staggeringly awesome solo guitar performance of The Simpsons theme

Thanks to the juicy goodness of YouTube, I’m thrilled to share with you this astounding performance of a timeless Danny Elfman composition:

Someone needs to give this guy a medal, a hug, and a frosty chocolate milkshake.

Update: my buddy Karl reminded me that as long as I’m posting so much Simpsons stuff lately, I ought to share the trailer for The Simpsons Movie, which finally becomes a reality in July 2007!

Yep. They said it would never happen. Even she said it would never happen.

It’s happened.

Cool.

support Parkinson’s research!

My dear old pal Michele is putting one foot in front of the other this year in the Parkinson’s Unity Walk, an annual two-mile stroll through Manhattan’s Central Park to raise awareness and funds for research to cure Parkinson’s disease.

If you’d like to give some money to a worthy cause today, visit Michele’s fundraising page, and sponsor her walk. I just did and it felt great :)

Hey, friends and family who like to see our photos once in a while! You know we’ve kept a lot of our pictures on Yahoo Photos for a while now (and Cheris added some more just the other day), but I should point out that for a while now we’re also now keeping many of our pictures on Flickr.

Flickr is amazingly better for so many reasons, but two of the biggies are that it allows comments and notes on every single picture, and that it makes it especially easy to mark certain photos as “friends & family only” and leave others open to the rest of the world. To see those friends & family photos, you’ll need to have a Flickr account and add me as a contact, but that should be fairly painless as Yahoo actually owns Flickr and you can sign right into Flickr with your existing Yahoo account (which I believe every man, woman, child, dog, cat, parakeet, and pet chinchilla in America now has).

Oh, and the picture in this post is just a goofy one that I especially liked from our trip to the Zilker Kite Festival last weekend.

live-action Simpsons theme

Wow, wow, wow. For anyone who’s spent much time in Springfield, USA, this is a must-see.

more music to be made

I’m very happy to announce that after a too-long layoff, my band is ready to play again. We’ll celebrate our comeback with two sets this Saturday, March 4, at Artz Rib House (2330 S. Lamar Blvd.), in the 7 to 9 pm range. If you’re in Austin and you could stand to hear a little bluegrass and folk from a peppy little guitar/mandolin/cello trio, come on out. Need a preview? We just put a few more demo tracks, recorded back in November in our guitarist’s garage, on the Out of the Blue website.
